Raku is widely praised for its authentic Japanese dining experience, consistently delivering high-quality udon noodles that are noted for their perfect texture and balanced flavors. Reviewers frequently highlight the meticulous attention to detail and the distinct handmade quality of the dishes, setting it apart from typical offerings in Toronto. The cozy, intimate atmosphere contributes to its popularity, though its small size often results in limited seating and wait times. The restaurant is also commended for accommodating dietary preferences, such as vegetarian broth options, demonstrating flexibility alongside authenticity. Besides the food, the attentive and knowledgeable service enhances the overall experience, with thoughtful touches like complimentary frozen grapes adding a memorable finish. Overall, Raku is recognized as a go-to spot for those seeking a genuine and satisfying Japanese meal in a warm, inviting setting.

Such an amazing meal. Felt like I was transported back to Japan, their attention to detail here is very rare at restaurants here in Toronto. Noodles were bouncy and just perfect, definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants you’ll find in this city. I can’t recommend this place enough, I’d even go as far as to say it’s one of my new favourite spots. Can’t wait to try more of the menu

Cute japanese dining spot - usually very busy even during the afternoons as the restaurant is rather small and cozy. We ordered the fried chicken tempura udon (toriten) and the udon with tempura mushroom (sansai). The broth can be changed to entirely vegetarian if you wish to accommodate vegetarian options but their standard broth is made with fish. We also ordered a side of shrimp (2 pieces to share). The udon has the perfect amount of chewiness and the soup was absolutely delicious. At the end of our meal, they served us frozen grapes which I thought was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

I love their udon. Silky on the outside with the perfect chewiness on the inside. The flavour of the kani maze cold udon was incredibly well balanced. The only thing to dislike about this place is it is often tough to get a table.

Love love this place. Whenever we crave noodles, this is our go to place. The food and the service are amazing and they never disappoint. They serve frozen grapes with your bill, which is a happy ending to your dining experience.

As good as I remember it to be when I tried it many years ago. The vegetable tempura is cooked to perfection. I loved the different options I had. I asked for my udon broth to be vegetarian instead of fish stock. Udon is chewy and thick and everything I love. You can really tell the difference between this handmade one and regular frozen udon. Our server was really kind and explained the menu to us when we had queries. She also took lots of pictures for us. Wholeheartedly recommend trying Raku!

I ordered a bowl of kitsune, a classic udon with a fried bean curd. The broth is clean and flavorful. The noodle is chewy and satisfying. I highly recommend Raku.

We started with the Agedashi Tofu and Inarizushi for appetizers. The sauce was wonderful, perfectly complementing the tofu, making the dish truly amazing. For my main course, I ordered the Kani Ankake Udon (Crab Udon). The broth was rich, thick, and flavorful—each sip was bursting with delicious crab flavor. The udon noodles had the perfect chewy texture. I’ll definitely return to try other udon dishes and menu items. The restaurant’s entrance and interior design were also stunning; the Japanese-inspired decor was exceptionally creative. I didn’t expect to find such a beautifully designed storefront right in downtown Toronto!

Undoubtedly the best udon you can get in Toronto. Texture is amazing and they capture each udon dish they offer with fresh and unique ingredients. This is where I take people when I want to get udon. Beware - there is always a wait. Go on off times for best success. Their appetizers are decent - the fried chicken is my favourite. But this is an udon place for a reason. Have tried both hot & cold - they don’t miss!
